Types of Square Tube

Mild Steel Tube

Mild steel tube is made of steel after rolling. Generally, the strip steel is blanked, flattened, curled, welded into a round tube, rolled into a square tube, and then cut into the required length.

Black Steel Tube

Black steel tube is a name for square tubes and rectangular tubes, that is, steel tubes with equal and unequal side lengths. It is made by rolling steel strips through processing. Generally, the steel strips are unpacked, flattened, rolled, and welded to form round tubes, which are then rolled into square tubes and cut into required lengths.

Production Process

The main production processes are: pipe billet preparation and inspection → pipe billet heating → piercing → rolling → reheating of rough pipes → sizing (reduction) → heat treatment → straightening of finished pipes → finishing → inspection (non-destructive, physical, and on-site inspection) → storage.

Surface Treatment Method of Square Tube

1. Mechanical Method: Use polishing machine or other machines to remove surface roughness.

2. Chemical Method: Use alkaline solution to remove oil, acid solution to pickle, and organic solvent to dissolve grease and descaling.

3. Electrochemical Process: Use electrochemical to remove oils and do electrochemical etching.

4. Roll finish, centrifugal roll finish, centrifugal pan brightening, rotation brightening, suitable for small pieces with effects of flattening and descaling.

5. Sand blasting: Applying for large area treatment, with effects of decontamination and removing oxide skin.

Hardness Test of Square Tube

The Rockwell hardness test of stainless steel pipe is the same as the Brinell hardness test, which is the indentation test method. The difference is that it measures the depth of the indentation. Rockwell hardness test is currently a widely used method, among which HRC is second only to Brinell hardness HB in steel pipe standards.

Rockwell hardness can be used to measure metal materials ranging from extremely soft to extremely hard. It makes up for the difference of the Brinell method and is simpler than the Brinell method. The hardness value can be read directly from the dial of the hardness machine. However, due to its small indentation, the hardness value is not as accurate as the Brinell method.
