Hot Dip Galvanized Steel Pipe
Hot dip galvanized steel pipe, OD 21.3-219.1 mm, wall 1.5-6.0 mm, length 6 m or customized. Q235B / S235JR / ASTM A53 Gr.A-B, BS 1387, EN 10255, EN 10219. Zinc coating 275-550 g/m2 after galvanizing, plain / threaded / grooved ends, EN 10204 3.1 MTC, 7-15 day dispatch.
A scaffolding contractor in Doha once cut one of my competitor's pipes in half and sent me the photo. Outside, the zinc looked perfect. Inside, half the bore was bare steel. The tube had been welded from pre-galvanized strip and nobody galvanized it after welding, so the seam and everything past it had no protection at all. He could not have seen that on arrival, and neither could you. That photo is why I start every galvanized pipe conversation the same way: ask whether the pipe was galvanized before or after it was welded. The answer changes how long your pipeline or your scaffold lives, especially anywhere near the coast.
Our own line works the other way round. We weld the tube first, then dip the finished pipe in our galvanizing kettle, so zinc gets into the bore, over the weld seam, and into every spot a die cannot reach. It costs a little more than pre-galv strip, and I will not pretend otherwise. What you get for it is a pipe that rusts from neither side. For water lines, fence posts, greenhouse frames and scaffolding, that difference is the whole product.

Why the kettle matters more than the brochure
Zinc weight is the number everyone quotes, but uniformity decides the failures. A pipe can average 300 g/m² and still have a thin patch at a bend or a bore that ran light. Because the galvanizing kettle sits inside our own plant, our welding crew and galvanizing crew argue across one office, not across two companies. When our QC pulls a pipe for a cross-section check and the bore reads light, the fix happens the same afternoon. I do not know how you buy that when the welding plant and the galvanizer are different owners with different interests.

Then there is wet storage stain, the white powder that frightens every receiver. It is not rust and it is usually harmless, but nobody enjoys explaining that at 7 a.m. on a job site. A buyer in Manila kept receiving complaints about it because his warehouse stacked bundles tight under tarpaulin in sea humidity. We changed his packing instead of his product: vented wrapping and VCI paper between bundles, so the pipes can breathe, and the calls stopped. Small engineering, but it saved a relationship that price alone would have lost.

Choosing the right end finish
Plain ends for structural use and anything you will weld yourself. Threaded and coupled for water and fire lines where the fitter works with spanners. Grooved if your contractor rolls couplings on site, which is faster and kinder to the coating than threading. Tell me which crew installs the pipe and I will ship it the way they want to receive it; threading a pipe that was meant to be welded just wastes your money twice.

Packing and delivery
Bundles in hexagonal shape, steel strapping, slings included for safe unloading, end caps where threads need protecting. Standard sizes ship in 7 to 12 days; threaded or grooved orders add two or three days. Odd diameters or a grade outside the usual list take 15 to 20 days, and I will tell you that number on the first reply rather than promise something the mill cannot keep.
Request a Quote
Send the outer diameter, wall, standard, end finish and destination port, or just describe what the pipes carry and where they live. A sales engineer replies within 12 hours with pricing, stock and a genuine lead time. If pre-galvanized strip would honestly be enough for your job, I will say so - it is cheaper, and keeping that trust matters more than this order.
