The term is an extension of GI, which is the traditional abbreviation of galvanized iron. Today, the term GI usually refers to pure zinc (>99%) continuous hot-dip coated steel, rather than the batch dipping process. PPGI refers to factory pre-painted galvanized steel, where the steel is painted before forming, rather than post-painting after forming.

1. PPGI is the abbreviation of color-coated galvanized steel sheet, and PPGI is the abbreviation of color-coated galvanized steel sheet. As the name implsteel coils are based on galvanized sheet (with zinc coating), and PPGL is based on galvanized sheet, coated with 55% aluminum, 43.3% zinc, and 1.6% silicon.
2. Aluminum-zinc coating is more corrosion-resistant than galvanized steel sheet.
3. Under the same weight, the aluminum-zinc coating covers 3% more space than the galvanized sheet.
4. PPGL has better corrosion resistance and heat resistance than PPGI.

Production Process
- First, the substrate (cold-rolled or hot-dip galvanized steel sheet) is cleaned and degreased to remove surface oil and impurities.
- Then, chemical conversion treatments (such as phosphating or passivation) are applied to enhance coating adhesion.
- Next, a roller coating process is used to sequentially apply primer, topcoat, and backcoat to both sides of the substrate, with each coating undergoing high-temperature baking and curing.
- Finally, surface treatments such as embossing, printing, or lamination are applied according to customer requirements, and the product is slit and rolled into finished products.
- The entire production process of PPGI Steel Coil requires strict control of temperature, coating thickness, and surface finish to ensure corrosion resistance, color consistency, and mechanical properties.
