Ppgi Coated Coil

Polyester (PE, polyester)

PE coating has good adhesion to materials, and color-coated steel plates are easy to process and form. It is inexpensive, has a wide variety of products, and has a wide range of color and gloss. However, the UV resistance and paint film peeling resistance of polyester coatings are not ideal, so the use of PE coatings is still subject to certain restrictions. It is generally used in areas with less air pollution or products that require multiple molding processes.

Silicone-modified polyester (SMP, Silicone Mobified Polyester)

Since polyester contains active groups -OH/-COOH, it is very easy to react with other polymers. In order to improve the UV resistance and anti-fragmentation performance of PE, silicone resin with excellent color retention and heat resistance is used for modification reaction. The modification ratio of SMP to PE can be between 5% and 50%. SMP has better durability for steel plates, and the anti-corrosion period can reach 10 to 12 years. Of course, the price is also higher than PE. However, due to the unsatisfactory adhesion and processing properties of silicone resin to materials, SMP color-coated steel plates are not suitable for occasions that require multiple molding and are mostly used in building roofs, exterior walls, etc.
