Product Characteristics

 

1. High structural strength

Compared with I-beams, the section modulus of H-beams is larger, and under the same bearing conditions, 10-15% of metal can be saved.

 

2. Flexible and rich design style

Under the same beam height, the span of steel structures can be 50% larger than that of concrete structures, making the building layout more flexible.

 

3. Light structural self-weight

Compared with the self-weight of concrete structures, it is lighter. The reduction of structural self-weight reduces the internal forces in the structure design, which can make the requirements for foundation treatment of building structures lower, the construction simpler, and the cost lower.

 

4. High structural stability

The steel structure, mainly composed of hot-rolled H-beams, has a scientific and reasonable structure, good plasticity and flexibility, high structural stability, and is suitable for building structures that can withstand large vibration and impact loads. ASTM H Beams have strong resistance to natural disasters and are particularly suitable for building structures in areas with frequent earthquakes. According to statistics, in the world's destructive earthquakes of magnitude 7 or above, steel structures mainly composed of H-beams suffer the least damage.

H-beam classification

 

There are many specifications of H-shaped steel products, and there are several classification methods as follows.

(1) According to the flange width of the product, it is divided into wide flange, medium flange and narrow flange H-shaped steel. The flange width B of wide flange and medium flange H-shaped steel is greater than or equal to the web height H. The flange width B of narrow flange H-shaped steel is approximately equal to half of the web height H.

(2) According to the use of the product, it is divided into H-shaped steel beams, H-shaped steel columns, H-shaped steel piles, and extra-thick flange H-shaped steel beams. Sometimes, parallel leg channel steel and parallel flange T-shaped steel are also included in the scope of H-shaped steel. Generally, narrow flange H-shaped steel is used as beam material, and wide flange H-shaped steel is used as column material, so it is also called beam-type H-shaped steel and column-type H-shaped steel.

(3) According to the production method, it is divided into welded H-shaped steel and rolled H-shaped steel.

(4) According to the size, it is divided into large, medium, and small H-shaped steel. Generally, products with web height H above 700mm are called large, those with web height H between 300 and 700mm are called medium, and those with web height less than 300mm are called small. By the end of 1990, the world's largest H-beam web height was 1200mm, and the flange width was 530mm.
