Hot Rolled Steel Plates

Hot rolled steel plates are made of slabs (mainly from continuous casting) and are heated and processed into strip steel by rough rolling units and finishing rolling units. The hot steel strip rolled out from the last finishing stand of the finishing rolling unit is cooled to the set temperature by laminar flow and then rolled into steel strip coils by the coiler.

Hot rolling can achieve a larger deformation amount due to the high temperature of the rolled piece and low deformation resistance. Taking steel plate rolling as an example, the thickness of the continuous casting billet is generally around 230mm. After rough rolling and finishing rolling, the final thickness is 1-20mm. At the same time, due to the small width-to-thickness ratio of the steel plate, the dimensional accuracy requirements are relatively low, and the plate shape problem is not easy to occur, mainly through convexity control. For those with special requirements for the organization, it is generally achieved through controlled rolling and controlled cooling, that is, controlling the initial rolling temperature, final rolling temperature, and finishing rolling pass temperature to control the organization and mechanical properties of the steel strip.

1. The surface of the hot rolled steel plates is relatively rough:

Due to the large plastic deformation of metal scrap during hot rolling at high temperature, the surface of the hot-rolled plate is oxidized, rust is easily formed, and the surface is rough, and an appearance that is not very beautiful.

After high-temperature rolling, the grain structure of the hot-rolled plate is reorganized and improved, with high toughness and plasticity. It is usually used in steel parts with high mechanical properties requirements, such as building structures, shipbuilding, bridge construction, etc.
