Raw Materials Of Steel Plates

Mar 05, 2025

The raw materials of steel plates mainly include iron ore, scrap steel and other alloying elements. Iron ore is the main raw material for steel production, and iron ore is reduced to pig iron through the blast furnace ironmaking process. Scrap steel is an important secondary resource in the steel industry, which can be used directly for steelmaking or as a raw material to produce ingots and steel products.

In addition, other alloying elements such as manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur are also used in the production process of steel plates. These elements are added to steel according to specific needs to improve its performance. For example, manganese can improve the strength and toughness of steel, and silicon is used to improve the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of steel.

Specific to the differences in raw materials of different types of steel plates, such as stainless steel 304 steel plates, its main components include alloying elements such as chromium, nickel, titanium, and silicon, among which chromium plays a key role in the corrosion resistance of stainless steel.
