Material Of Steel Plate

Apr 24, 2025

The material of steel plate is mainly divided into two categories: industrial and medical according to the application field. The specific material selection depends on the purpose, strength and biocompatibility requirements.

1. Material of industrial steel plate
Basic material classification

Ordinary carbon steel (such as Q195, Q215), high-quality carbon structural steel (such as 08AL), alloy structural steel: commonly used in construction, machinery manufacturing and other fields, suitable for general forming and load-bearing needs.
Stainless steel (such as 304 steel plate): contains elements such as chromium and nickel, has strong corrosion resistance, and is widely used in food processing, chemical equipment, etc.
Special function steel: including spring steel, tool steel, heat-resistant steel, etc., used in specific industrial scenarios, such as spring manufacturing (silicon steel), high temperature environment (heat-resistant steel).
Surface treatment and use subdivision

Coated steel plate: such as galvanized plate (rust prevention), tin plate (food packaging), plastic composite steel plate (weather resistance).
Professional purpose steel plate: oil drum plate, bulletproof steel plate, etc., select the material and process according to the needs.

2. Medical steel plate materials (fracture fixation)
Mainstream material characteristics

Stainless steel: low cost, high strength, but may cause electrolytic reaction or allergy, need to be removed after surgery.
Titanium alloy: excellent biocompatibility, light weight and corrosion resistance, suitable for long-term implantation, but the price is relatively high.
Cobalt-chromium alloy: outstanding wear resistance and stability, suitable for complex fractures, but the economic burden is large.
Absorbable material: no need for secondary surgery to remove, but low strength, only for specific fracture types.
Selection basis
Doctors will make decisions based on the patient's fracture type, age, economic conditions and material properties (such as elastic modulus and bone matching).

Summary: The choice of steel plate material is highly dependent on the application scenario. The industrial field is guided by mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, while the medical field prioritizes biocompatibility and long-term safety.
