Hot Rolled Steel Sheet (Q235B / SS400)

Hot rolled steel sheet and plate, 2-100 mm thick, 1250-2500 mm wide, Q235B/Q345B, SS400, S235JR/S355JR, ASTM A36. Cut to length and profile in our plant, flame or plasma cutting, shot blasting and primer optional. GB/T 700, JIS G3101, EN 10025, ASTM A36, EN 10204 3.1 MTC.

Nobody writes home about hot rolled sheet. It is the trailer deck, the machine base, the cap plate on a column - the steel everyone counts on and nobody praises. My job in the quote, more often than not, is to talk a buyer out of the thickness on his drawing. A fabricator in Dammam ordered 12 mm plate for a hopper liner because the drawing said so. The drawing was a copy of a copy, dated 2014. We looked at the wear pattern in his photos and suggested 16 mm at the impact zone, 10 mm everywhere else. Liner life nearly doubled. Total cost went down. Nobody applauded that phone call, but it is the whole job.

Surface is the second conversation. Hot rolled plate arrives with mill scale, the blue-grey skin from the last pass through the rolls. Paint over scale and the paint holds only until the scale lets go. So I put it plainly on every quote: blast or grind before coating, or ask us to shot blast and prime the plate in our plant before it ships. I would rather give up a point of margin than hear six months later that the paint lifted where the scale broke loose.

Flatness decides how your cutting job goes

Lay a plate on the cutting table and see if it rocks. A few millimeters of wave across three meters turns a nested drawing into guesswork, and the operator spends the morning shimming instead of cutting. Plate that comes off a line with proper leveling lies flat on arrival. A customer cutting brackets in Nairobi told me he adds five percent to his material figure whenever he buys from a mill he has not dealt with, purely because of this. With our plate he stopped adding it. There is no secret to it. We simply do not skip the leveling passes.

Cut to size in our own plant

We cut, level and profile in our own workshop. Sending full 6000 x 2000 mm sheets to a buyer who burns them into 300 mm squares means moving scrap around at his freight cost. Give me the drawing instead and we flame or plasma cut to profile, deburr the parts, and you pay freight once. One machinery customer in Uzbekistan went further: we kit his monthly parts onto pallets sorted by assembly number, and his fitters now ask for it by name.

Packing and delivery

Plate ships in bundles with steel strapping and timber separators, stenciled with grade, heat number and size on each piece so your stores team does not open bundles in the rain to identify stock. Common grades and gauges ship in 10 to 15 days; profile-cut orders follow the drawing and take a few days more. Container or break bulk, we have done both, and we will flag it honestly if your order is cheaper as flat rack.

Request a Quote

Send thickness, width, grade, quantity and the destination port - or send the drawing and ask for cut-to-size pricing. A sales engineer replies within 12 hours. If a thinner plate with a different grade would carry the load at lower cost, we will say so before you commit, not after.
