Characteristics

High ductility, suitable for products that need to be formed. It can be rapidly hardened during mechanical processing. It has good weldability. Its wear resistance and fatigue strength are superior to 304.

The corrosion resistance is the same as that of 304. However, due to the additional carbon content, its strength is slightly better.

The semi-machinable type 304 steel containing sulfur and phosphorus, with GB designation of Y12Cr18Ni9, is also referred to as A1 in ISO 3506.

The most commonly used traditional 18/8 stainless steel is GB grade 06Cr19Ni10, also known as A2 in ISO 3506. 304L is similar to 304, but it has reduced the content of C to enhance weldability, and its strength is slightly lower than that of 304. 304LN is similar to 304L, but it has added N to achieve higher yield strength and tensile strength than 304L.

It is an improved type of 304, and it is the second most widely used steel grade after 304, which is for food and medical purposes. It contains the element Molybdenum (Mo), and has a higher Ni content.

This makes its corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength significantly enhanced, and its high-temperature resistance can reach 1200 - 1300℃. It can prevent point corrosion, crevice corrosion, corrosion in chloride ion environments, seawater and other special forms of corrosion. Therefore, it can be used under harsh conditions.

Similar to 304, the addition of Ti reduces the risk of weld rusting. To resist sensitization during welding, Nb is added to 347.
