Cold Rolled Steel Sheet (SPCC / DC01)

Cold Rolled Steel Sheet (SPCC / DC01)

Cold rolled steel sheet, 0.3-3.0 mm thick, 1000-1500 mm wide, SPCC/SPCD/DC01-DC03/CS B. Annealed and skin passed, oil or dry surface, tight gauge tolerance for deep drawing and painting. JIS G3141, EN 10130, ASTM A1008, EN 10204 3.1 MTC, 10-18 day dispatch.

Cold rolled sheet costs more than hot rolled and the first question every new buyer asks me is whether it is worth it. My honest answer: depends what your machine does next. A cabinet maker in Jordan found out the expensive way. He ran hot rolled into his powder coating line because it was cheaper per ton, then paid two workers to grind and fill every panel before painting. Orange peel still showed through the finish. His paint shop had quietly become a repair shop. The month he switched to our cold rolled sheet those two workers moved to assembly, and his reject rate at final inspection fell so hard he thought the QC form was broken.

Gauge tolerance is the other reason people pay the difference. Ask for 0.8 mm cold rolled and you get 0.8 mm, give or take a hair, because the cold mill measures and corrects continuously. Hot rolled nominal drifts. Sometimes a little, sometimes eight or ten percent if the offer is cheap enough. Blanking forty thousand panels for appliance doors on drifting stock means the feed tool jams at the fat end of the coil and your operator learns to babysit it. One customer making water heater jackets in Ho Chi Minh City stopped measuring incoming sheet after his third order from us. He just stamps it straight to the line now.

Oil or dry - decide before you ship

People treat this as a footnote and it bites them every time. A light oil film protects sheet crossing the equator in a steel box that breathes moisture every day and night. But oil on sheet headed into a powder line is one more degreasing bath your customer pays for. I learned the question the blunt way: a furniture tube maker in Colombia called to complain that weld spatter was popping odd since a new shipment. Turned out my default oiled surface was the culprit. Next batch went out dry, problem gone, and now that question - press, welder, or paint line first? - opens every cold rolled conversation I have. Costs nothing to ask. Costs real money to guess.

What we do in our own plant

The cold rolling, annealing and skin pass all happen on our own line, so when you ask for a specific hardness - skin passed rather than fully annealed, say - the answer comes from the mill schedule, not from a trading desk waiting on someone else's reply. We slit to your widths on site, which matters more than it sounds: buying 1250 mm and having us slit to 96 mm strips saves you a second handling step, and every handling step on thin sheet is a chance to scratch it. We cut to length in our own plant as well, and pack the same day when schedules allow.

Packing and delivery

Standard export packing is waterproof paper and galvanized steel strapping on timber pallets, with edge boards where the straps sit. For sea freight to tropical destinations we add VCI paper inside the bundle, because a container that sits in the sun breathes moisture in and out every day and bare cold rolled surface loses that fight quietly. Common gauges in SPCC ship in 10 to 15 days; special widths or grades need a few more. I quote the honest date, and if the mill schedule slips I tell you before you have to ask.

Send thickness, width, grade and the destination port - or simply tell me what the sheet becomes in your hands and how it gets finished. A sales engineer replies within 12 hours with pricing, stock and lead time. If hot rolled plus grinding would do the job cheaper for your application, I will tell you that too.
